As the weather continues to cool down, I thought it would be the perfect time to start talking about winter fashion. Instead of giving you a massive winter fashion blog this year, I wanted to break up the subject so the blogs are easier to read. If you like this format, please let me know in the comments below.

1. The Bubble/Puffer Jacket

This is not the first time we have seen this trend. In fact, while my mom and I were watching episodes of “Gilmore Girls” I realized that Lorelai was wearing the exact jacket that is in style right now.

The bubble jacket, also called puffer jacket, looks really good on both men and women. Even though it is a “streetwear” trend, it can be dressed up for business casual events. A jacket like this can be worn many different ways. Men, depending on your style, you can rock this coat with joggers or jeans. I suggest avoiding monochromatic outfits with the bubble jacket.

Ladies, this jacket can be worn with cropped skinnies and boots or sneakers. If you would like a more edgy outfit, pair this jacket with a mini skirt (corduroy, velvet or leather), black sheer tights, and boots with personality for a true retro edgy look.

2. The “Blazer Style” Coat

These coats look like oversized blazers and they work so well on both men and women. Many of these coats this season are double breasted, so there are two sets of buttons.

Men, you can wear this coat with a turtleneck and slim fitting pants, a button down shirt and pants, or if you want to really stand out, you can wear this with casual attire (a hoodie or t-shirt and pants of your choice). The mixture of chic and casual creates a more “Luka Sabbat” fashion-forward grunge outfit.

Ladies, this coat be worn a ton of different ways. My favorite way to style the thin blazer coat is with a belt or a modern fanny pack with pants, with a mini skirt, or as a dress. The thicker blazer coat is best styled with high waisted jeans and a sweater, a midi skirt and top, or a dress (so, almost anything).

3. The Faux Fur Coat

Faux fur comes around every year in a different form and fashion (pun absolutely intended). This year, the two popular styles are full faux fur and “teddy” faux fur. Full faux fur coats can almost be worn with anything, yes, anything. These coats can be daring for some men, but if you are a male who would wear a full faux coat, wear it confidently!

The “teddy” style coat is hard to search for online because every site seems to have a different name for them. The best way to find these coats is to go to the outerwear section of the clothing store site of your choice and search for “fur”. These coats are pretty casual and can be worn with jeans and a t-shirt, a sweater and a skirt, or any of the 70s retro pieces that are in style right now. This is also a coat that is more popular in women’s fashion. Here are some pictures of my friend Jailyn in her “teddy” style coat. You can find her on IG @jai_yellow!

4. The Biker Jacket

This last jacket is one of my favorites. There are a variety of leather and suede biker jackets in style right now. These jackets range from very casual to very dressy. The brown leather coat with faux fur is my personal pick for men who want to try this style. This jacket can be worn by any man no matter what style he wears. This jacket looks best when paired with jeans.

Ladies, we have a variety of biker jackets in leather, “teddy” faux fur and suede to choose from. The suede and “teddy” jackets are a bit more dressy, and the leather jackets are a bit more casual, but these are definitely interchangeable. I am not a huge fan of the long biker coat, but I do love the more traditional biker jacket length that usually falls at the waist or hip if oversized.  I personally love the way that Tess Christine styles the leather biker coat (above). Her style reminds me how versatile the biker jacket can be.
