Last Minute Christmas Gift Basket

Christmas is just 4 days away! Can you believe it?

If you still haven't found the perfect gift to give someone this Christmas, don't worry! I have a few tips to share on how you can get someone a bunch of little things and make it look phenomenal!

1. First we need a theme.

If you are shopping for your girlfriend or boyfriend, mom or dad, brother or sister, friend or coworker, you need a theme. What is one characteristic about this individual that stands out? Are they always wearing black and white? What kind of music do they like? What do the two of you usually talk about? If you can gather at least one simple fact about this person, use this as your theme. Greysi, one of my best friends and my blogging partner, loves Kate SpadeIf you've never heard of Kate Spade you should check them out!  So, right now, Kate Spade would be out of my price range but I can use their "style" and color scheme as a theme for Greysi.

2. We need set a budget

When gathering a bunch of items, your total can add up quicker than you think. It is always safe to set a budget to keep you in the safe zone as you shop. I personally like to set my budget a little low so that it allows me to have a little wiggle room if I find something that pushes me over my limit just a tad.

3. Start collecting items

So now that you have a theme and a budget - let's go shopping! The key here is to look at stores that have a variety of things like Target for example. For a girl you could get a cute notebook, a mug, pens, tech touch gloves, and hot chocolate mix (I would personally choose the salted caramel mix on the left to stay within the color scheme). All of these items are handpicked by me from Target!

So, it may be hard to tell, but the items above are all charcoal grey, rose gold or pink, or brown, and I slipped in the mint green because that always compliments pale pink. Put your finger over the yellow-green tag on the hot chocolate mix to help see the actual color scheme. The color scheme came along once I started gathering items and then I tried to find other things that looked good with it. The color scheme also has a Kate Spade influence. Try not to use too many colors!

4. Package it all up

There are a lot of ways that you could package your gifts! For this particular DIY we are going to get a basket and a bag. I found this dark brown storage basket on The Container Store website. They have the best gift bags and boxes also if you're going to take that route. I also found this simple clear plastic bag from Dollar Tree that can be used to place in the storage basket. Lastly, I found this Gold & Copper Metallic Woven Wired Ribbon from The Container Store to Tie it all together at the top. The rest is simple - take the basket, place the plastic inside the basket and then insert the gifts all facing one direction putting the taller and wider items at the back and the smaller items in the front, then gather the plastic to a pinch and tie the ribbon and make a shoelace bow to keep it simple!

...and wahh-lahhh! It is finished! So, choose a theme, set a budget, gather the items, and throw them in a basket and finish it with a bow! I hope at least some of this inspires you!
