January Ipsy Bag
As I have previously mentioned, I am not the best at being a girl. My weakness? Make up. Don't get me wrong, I love make up, but I have so much trouble with the different types and brands, when to apply, how to apply, finding the right shade, etc., that I end up giving up. My other problems: 1) I'm lazy and 2) money. So I thought to myself, "how can I learn more about make up without breaking the bank?" The solution? Ipsy.
Ipsy was created by Michelle Phan, who is known for her beauty tutorials on YouTube. She decided to help make up lovers (like myself) who are clueless with make up (again, like myself) receive beauty products monthly. With an Ipsy subscription you get a "Glam Bag" shipped right to your door that includes beauty products to try out that month. Pretty nifty right?
So what I am going to do is review those beauty products every month and let you know which ones work and which need to go, from an armatures perspective. Not only will this help you out, since I can explain the products in the simplest terms, but maybe I'll become a make up expert myself!
Let's begin!
The first item up is the "Fantasy" eye shadow by Mannakadar Beauty. I really like this sandy metallic eye shadow, it is perfect for an every day, subtle look. The only problem I have with this shade is that it is too light and you have to apply a lot of layers to show off a slight tint. But overall I give it a 3.5/5 stars.
The second item is a Smashbox BB Cream, light/medium tint. I love BB creams! mostly because I am a lazy person. BB creams are nice because they are essentially tinted lotion, so they they feel light on your skin, unlike thick foundation. I like this cream, but unfortunately it wasn't the correct shade. When I put it on it looked like I had only tanned my face! Right now I give it a 3/5, BUT I'll save it for summer after my first tan and I'll get back to you.
As you all know, I love nail polish, so it' is always very exciting when I get a new shade. This one is short and sweet, Pretty Woman Nail Polish; "I'm Not A Ballerina". It is a very light, pastel pink, that is a great shade for spring. I love it! 5/5. It might even be a shade of the month...
Last, but not least is the Model Co Blush, "Peach Bellini". There is nothing that I like more than blush. Most of all, I love the blushes that also double as a highlighter. This particular shade is too light to use as regular blush (as you can see in the picture above, it looks like I'm not wearing blush, only that I'm a bit flushed), but what I suggest is you add some regular blush first and add this shade on top to add a nice dewy look. I give it 4/5 stars.
Well there you have it! I hope this has helped you just a tiny bit and if you have an questions or comments please share below!
