Fall 2017 Hottest Fashion Trends

FALL IS FINALLY HERE!!

I absolutely love this time of year! From the beginning of fall to New Year's Eve my heart is full! I get to put up my fall wreath, buy some new fall scented candles, bring out my blankets, drink and eat pumpkin spice everything, hand out candy to kids in cute costumes on Halloween, visit family and feast on Thanksgiving, watch 25 Days of Christmas, put up all of our Christmas decorations, buy some Christmas scented candles, warm up by the fire, give and receive presents, and then countdown to the New Year! I feel out of breath just typing that run-on sentence of excitement!

Along with fall leaves, pumpkin spice, and cooler weather, we are blessed with the opportunity to expand our summer wardrobe and bring out the browns, the burgundys, the sweaters and the booties - yes, I mean the shoes. I love fall fashion because I get to wear my whole wardrobe! I can wear my summer dresses with cardigans and boots, I can wear my shorts with oversized sweaters, and some days it’s so chilly that I can actually sport some of my coats.

Since this is my first fall season as a fashion blogger, I thought I would share 6 of my favorite trends for this season!

1. The Oversized Blazer

I love my outerwear oversized, and this season you’ll be seeing a lot of that! These oversized blazers and coats are so fun to throw on, and they can be dressed up or dressed down. If you want to be really chic, you can wear your oversized blazer without putting your arms in the sleeves and just let it rest on your shoulders. This is a piece I wouldn’t suggest buying online, because you’ll need to try it on to make sure it is flattering and doesn’t look too bulky on you.

2. Grey & Brown Plaid

So there’s a lot of plaid going on this fall. I mean, these magazines could pass for school uniform catalogs! If you know me, you know that I'm obsessed with the 90s (not only because I was born then, but because the fashion and TV shows were awesome) and this plaid is taking me back to 90s trends!

Lots of plaid skirts, plaid jumpsuits, plaid suits, plaid coats, and even some plaid dresses will be in store this fall!

3. Velvet & Corduroy

Velvet made its biggest comeback last fall, but this year it’s back again. I’m not a huge fan of crushed velvet, but that has seemed to be really hot this year. My favorite velvet garment is a nice velvet dress, and I have a few that I will be wearing this season. I'm personally not a fan of velvet pants or any other velvet piece other than dresses.

Another #throwback material that has made a comeback is corduroy! There was a whole page dedicated to corduroy in the September 2017 Glamour. I think that corduroy is such a good layering piece as a dress, or a skirt, or a cute jacket, but I wouldn’t suggest wearing more than one corduroy piece at a time.

 4. Leather and Vinyl Skirts

Okay, since we are talking about materials, let’s talk about leather and vinyl! These edgy materials are another hot trend you’ll be seeing a lot this fall. Ayesha Curry wore a leather shirt and a graphic tee and posted it on Instagram and I fell in love! A lot of ladies have been wearing graphic tees and skirts lately, and I am a huge fan of this trend, especially when the skirt is leather or vinyl.

Vinyl is an interesting material because it is really shiny and stands out! As I’ve watched brands put out their fall clothes I’ve seen a lot of vinyl and thanks to Pinterest I got some inspiration on how to wear it without it being too loud, and I have attached some below.

 5. Over the Knee Boots

This trend has been off and on for 10 years or so, but I always think it’s one of the hottest trends during the fall and winter seasons - over the knee boots. Pairing over the knee boots with oversized t-shirts, or hoodies, or cute dresses is one of my favorite looks. I haven’t bought a pair yet, but this year I’m determined! If you order these shoes online make sure you know the return policy because it can be hard finding boots that fit your legs the way they're supposed to.

6. Black or Navy & Floral

I’m sure everyone can relate to this, but one of my hobbies is shopping online, filling up my cart with things I like, and not necessarily making a purchase. Lately while I've been browsing I’ve been seeing a lot of dresses that are black or navy with a floral pattern on top. One of my best friends actually just bought one from Windsor.

I like this trend because it brings the floral prints from spring and summer into fall! Adding that deep blue or black in the background instantly changes the look to blend in with fall trends.

Well, that wraps up my list of the Hottest 2017 Fall Trends! I hope you take this info and inspiration and make it your own!
